Morocco was known to the ancients as:

"Al-Maghreb Al-Aqusa", "The Farthest Land of the Setting Sun"

It is the most western of the North African countries, bordered in the north by the Mediterranean and in the west by the Atlantic. It is a country of many beaches with dramatic coastlines, mountain ranges, rivers and the great dunes of the Sahara. In the first part of the twentieth century Morocco was a French Protectorate. It became a kingdom again in 1955 and the present constitutional monarch is King Mohammed VI. There is a strong stable government with two elected chambers of representatives.
